About Lesley

Lesley Whelan has been painting for over a decade and has developed her own unique style. Her work is becoming more and more popular, and is to be regarded as a highly collectable investment.
"My subjects are mostly plants that have some personal significance to me. A journey begins and powerful memories and emotions can often be evoked......... I'm not interested in a transitory moment; in all my paintings my aim is to capture my feelings and sense of awareness."
Achievements include:
- Graduating from the University of Birmingham with a degree in Art Education.
- Being awarded the Stanley Smith Bursary and becoming Artist in Residence at the University of Birmingham Botanic Garden at Winterbourne (2003-2004).
- Receiving funding from Arts Council England, Arts and Business West Midlands and both Birmingham and Coventry City Councils to develop her work.
- Being a qualified teacher and gaining extensive teaching experience.
- Mentoring and supporting other artists in Warwickshire.
- Being an Official Ambassador to the City of Coventry.
